You don’t use a GLCD adapter for a Vik2, you just wire it directly to the board.
I believe a Voltage Regulator is necessary ( or at least helps ).
Cheers.
Great, thanks!
I bought the GLCD Adapter for my Viki 2.0 thinking that I would need it, in fact you really don’t. So you can just put that in storage for now.
The Viki 2.0 connects to the Smoothieboard rather easily, the hardest part is just soldering on the new header pins and connecting the harness which isn’t that bad. The example config for the Viki 2.0 and 5X board worked perfect for me. The only two things you can’t connect from the Viki is the red button and the blue LED.
My smoothieboard has the 5V reg, i’d recommend having one so that voltage spikes (if they were to occur) won’t damage anything.
I have a Smoothieboard on the way and already own a ViKi 2. Where did you find information about adding the header pins, and what are they for?
I remember reading there are less IO available for the 5 motor smoothieboard
Is that the one you have?
I have the 4 motor version. It arrived yesterday and I am trying to sort out where to place the header pins.
Hello,
I’m not sure if this will apply to you since you own the 4 and not the 5 version of the Smoothieboard, but I used this picture to figure out which pin is what:
Page Name —-> Smoothieboard Wiring
Then I used this pinout list to connect the Smoothieboard:
Page Name —-> lpc1769 Pin Usage
Of course you can assign the pins to whatever you’d like to through the config file, but to keep things simple I just followed the default pin assignment.
