Control Box for my Shapeoko (WIP)

So far… Super Clean!

Looking good! Relays for vacuum and spindle?

nice. where did you source the box and the nice connector/nuts on the outside?

Everything was from Amazon.

Got some links to amazon? Share the love!

@y_milord have you tested those relays? I had a very similar one and found mine could not spinup the vacuum or reliably work with my dw660 router. In the end I switched to using a SuperPID and a sainsmart relay module. http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-4-CH-4-Channel-Relay-Module/dp/B0057OC5O8

Yup Tested and works fine. These are the same ones I am using my 3D Printer and my laser engraver.

But you actually tested it with the vacuum right? That’s great. My Fotek ones wouldn’t spin up the vacuum. I did a bunch of research then found out that there are two types of SSR, Zero Crossing and Random Turn On. If you’re using an inductive load like a vacuum then you need a Random Turn On SSR, resistive loads like heated beds and lasers however can use either type. Most cheap SSRs tend to be Zero Crossing. They will turn on most inductive loads but have a hard time turning off some loads reliably. It worked a bit to begin with, but then as I started running more things on the same power cord I found I couldn’t turn off the vacuum half the time!

Initially I used a 15A dummy load to test. Then used the Shopvac as the final (Couple hours ago). As its easier to move around. My spindle is still mounted on my Shapeoko and I didn’t feel like going thru the hassle of removing it.

I left it running with the dummy load for about 30 mins and read the temps with my fluke. Everything was nominal.

Excellent, glad its working then. Perhaps your Shopvac works differently than my big old Rigid vac.
