It seems odd that the outer ring runs counter clockwise, but the rest run clockwise… 
Yes, the outer ring does run opposite to the others. That threw me at first and made for some weird patterns. I’m using this in a game for my grandkids. I started with the Neopixel library, but decided to learn the FastLED library as it will do many more effects faster.
Hey, I just re-checked the Led order on the outer ring and I see that I have it wrong. All rings go clockwise. All of the effects I did in my application were symetrical about the vertical axis, so the error didn’t show up. Here is the corrected drawing.
