Costco sells vacuum sealers for $80…guess what else they’re good for?
Haha nice! does it come with the sealer?
It comes with some sample reuseable ziplock bags, and a small roll of ‘make your own’ bags…Costco sells at lifetime supply of bags for another $20.
I have several rolls of filament sitting next to my printer. I don’t understand the value of vaccuum sealing them. Can you help me understand?
@Phillip_Bell 3D printer filament is susceptible to moisture. It makes the filament brittle, and can hurt prints. Vacuum sealing it keeps the filament from getting moist.
They…uh…still have the ones they came with…does that count?
Now I want to start selling filament!! It would look all professional!
The best would be if we can convince our filamentsellers to do right away before shipping.
Rice or cat litter works well too.
Why didn’t I think of that???
@Phillip_Bell imagine snapping filament inside a filament guide tube after 3hours of print and still 5minutes to go
How about a food dehydrator?
@Mark_Ellison time is the essence
If you are lucky to be in a sunny part of the world I let them sit for days in a cardboard box with dessicant (wrote about it in http://www.tridimake.com/2014/08/home-made-filament-drier-box.html from which you get pointers to better techiques, e.g. check the link to nylon printing). Some people also used a lightbulb in a box, etc
You can dry filament in a food dehydrator? Good thing I have one of those.
@Sebastian_Schmidt really? mine comes sealed with the dessiccant packs in it. I thought that was standard procedures? I get it from makergeeks. No affiliation, just happy customer.
Mike is that esun or Inland Brand from Microcenter??
Microcenter…wanted to change out color before using up the spool.
