Could a Beaglebone Black seem like an ideal platform to combine the VR functions

Could a Beaglebone Black seem like an ideal platform to combine the VR functions of the Dive or the Cardboard with hardware interfaces, or is it too much of a round peg in a Square Hole? Might it be better off with something like the rumored Next?

3D with two cheap SPI displays seems like a good fit to me.

I was under the impression that the TI 3D drivers were still under construction?

@Joey_Carlini_moocow1 not so much under construction as locked away by imagination technologies. Graphics support on the bbb is awful, first hand experience here, and TI uses that sgx core in a ton of their SoCs.

I wish TI would get the drivers open sourced or switch to a core with mainline drivers. If people keep buying the chips anyway then we are to blame for encouraging them.

If $100usd isn’t too much, I’d recommend the minnowboard. Fully open graphics drivers included in mainline kernel source.
