I’d love to see what kind of throughput you could get through this, as well as what options are available for turning it into a general wireless SPI communications device.

How about running Octoprint on it?

@Wylie_Hilliard my guess is it won’t have the necessary processing power. However, I ordered one, should arrive today or tomorrow, to play around with it in the context of OctoPrint

If just a file service could run there it might make it simpler or faster to add a file to the card.

@Wylie_Hilliard That’s exactly something I want to try out. Just scp the files over, trigger an M20 on the printer after doing so, should be a quick hack.

@foosel I will be waiting to see if you file upload working, if not this module can be interesting: http://dx.com/p/hi-link-hlk-rm04-serial-port-ethernet-wi-fi-adapter-module-blue-black-214540?utm_rid=52654352&utm_source=affiliate

@Miguel_Sanchez this will only get rid of the cable, not the bottleneck: “Maximum transmission rate: 230400bps”

@foosel I do not know what upload speed would be possible with Transcend Wifi SD card, so I can’t tell if this is an drawback or an improvement.

I read the datasheet and they claim 10KB/s transfer rate on that board.

you guys are thinking wireless 3d printer… i was thinking wireless game camera. Keep the scent away or while you hunt notify you if something gets close (and you could view what it is too)

With the right hacked firmware, this could turn into what I hoped Electric Imp would be when I first heard about it.

Someone’s hacked it - want to say Makerbot Owners? I’ll see if I can dig up the link.
