Crystal LED Wreath
Constructed from a 50-pixel white-wire string of WS2811s, twelve feet of upcycled heavy wire gauge “crystal garland”, and an Arduino Nano.
The animation currently installed very slowly replaces one or two pixels’ color at a time, too slowly for video to do justice. The overall effect that unless you stare at it, you won’t see anything changing, but over time the overall colors continues to shift.
Two alternate animations are “green with red berries” and “blue sky with white snow falling”.

nice! that would look a lot less cool with my rainbow wired lights. Did you get them from aliexpress?

Yes. Got them from Ray Wu’s Store. I put together a bulk order (ten strands) with some other folks, and with shipping included it worked out to about $20 per 50-pixel (15-foot?) strand. They come with both white and black wires; I chose white for this project. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/promotion-DC5V-WS2811-controlled-12mm-diameter-led-pixel-node-50pcs-a-string-with-black-wire-injection/701799_1197032268.html

I like Ray Wu’s store - but I can’t go there anymore this year, unless I sell a kidney or other body part…
