Definitely not open source,

Definitely not open source, but I’m really excited!

Not everyone is given the chance to make a complete career change into a field that completely aligns with everything they love to do. Fortunately, I have been given that opportunity.

Have you heard about 3D Printing? If not, google it right now. If you have, then my answer is no, I cannot print a gun for you. This industry is all about making stuff and that is what I love to do.

I now have full access to the following printers (as well as others) on a daily basis. What awesome things would you print?

What did you do before? What do you do now? Congrats.

@Chris_Reyes , I designed security systems (CCTV, Access Control, etc) before this. Now I’m a support engineer for the products from 3D Systems and several other manufacturers in the 3D industry. It is a radical career change, but a good one! The only similarities between the two would be that they involve technology.

I also made a radical career change. Was a visual effects artist for cartoon network then deviated to desktop 3D printers. Its been wild so far.

Well, I could really use a custom multi-stage orthotic to equal out my leg-length discrepancy. They tell me I need to transition in stages to my full height, and I’d like to have it made out of a material similar in weight to styrofoam. Is there such a type of filament, or should I look into CnC w/ actual styrofoam? On another note, I’d love to make shoes similar to crocs but my own designs. And I’d love to incorporate my abstract art as the holes.

@Lydia_S , I read this article about some new porous materials. Some of which may act like styrofoam after some post-print soaking in water. Could be a possibility for you once it is released.
