Definitely the highest detail print I’ve ever printed, I’m very happy with the results. Slight defect at the mouth and some visible lines on the cheek, the Solutech filament from Amazon seems to do that, it doesn’t have a very consistent diameter.
Tip: Let’s upgrade to all-metal hot end (I have used E3D V6 with my Simple Metal as the one from Printrbot didn’t there yet) and the quality raises even more. https://plus.google.com/+TomasVit/posts/bpiMWa88oGQ (I also recommend better slicer than common Cura. For example Simplify3D works well with my Simple Metal.)
The Ubis 13S is a little better at detail. Or you could but a .3 tip… Or smaller, but I think it looks great. Would be interesting to see another brand of filament w same settings. Great job!
@Tomas_Vit I’ll keep the hot end in mind. And I am using Simplify3D, I was using Cura but last week I purchased S3D and I’ve been completely blown away by it, I absolutely LOVE that software!
I noticed an immediate improvement on my print quality with S3D, mainly because of how it handles retraction in both the Z axis and extruder and the ability to specify speed reductions, not to mention it has a vastly superior support structure system.
@Tom_Nardi When I first got my printer I ordered a bunch of Solutech PLA filament because of the price and Amazon Prime in Canada. For the most part the filament has been decent, but pretty much every roll has had inconstant diameters.
I tried two rolls of MG Chemicals and same thing, very inconsistent diameter, not to mention both of my MG rolls were poorly wound causing occasional skipping on my extruder.
Hatchbox filament has been the best so far, my Hatchbox rolls so far have a very consistent diameter and are very well wound up. I think I’m going exclusive Hatchbox for all of my standard PLA colors in the future.
