Delta update: Got my PEI in from CS Hyde today. Didn’t know that it would be glossy side up. I like the glossy bottom finish on prints but will this lead to decreased adhesion? Never used this stuff without the matte finish up.

Try sanding the surface with some 1000 or 1200 grit sandpaper–the rougher surface might help the plastic grab a bit better

I prefer the shiny side. The dull side sticks too much.

@Ishaan_Gov I was running a quick run with some steel wool.

@Evan_Nguyen but does it stick enough so that there is no warping?

Yes it sticks plenty

Cool! I’ll leave it for now. Worst case scenario I rough it up a bit later on. Thanks guys!

Another trick is to heat up the bed 5-10C hotter (if you can) which can allow the filament to stick better at the beginning even on the shiny side. Then after about 0.5mm thick of layers cool it back down about 15-20C to keep it from warping as upper layers cool. Pick a starting bed temp about 5C above the glass temperature of the material you are using.

You can also heat up the filament hotter for the first layer by 5C to split the difference if there are bed temp limits.

This technique works really well on Kapton tape and painters tape.

@Steve_L if I order another from them I will. They weren’t clear which side would be up so I was somewhat mislead. Looked matte in the photo but it is what it is.

Steve L, are you having this as a removable print bed, holding it down with clips? Would it work like that on a Ø 400 mm bed?

@Steve_L well I tried attaching this one yesterday and it came out horribly:

Tacked down before I was ready (and off center) and like a fool I pulled all the adhesive off instead of working it slowly. Looks like I’ll be ordering a new sheet. You would recommend 5mil with 5mil adhesive? Do you think the extra 3 mil of adhesive makes a difference? I’ll also do matte side up. missing/deleted image from Google+

I have used CS hyde PEI with abs. Absolutely no adhesion problems with the glossy side. Try it first before you sand it. I think you will like it.
