Did the prices of reliable filament go up in the last few years?

No. Probably down a little. Mines been constant for a long long time… $12 for .5 kg… not cheapest but no questions asked guarantee :wink:

Some suppliers have probably raised their prices. More have lowered them because of competition and new cheap suppliers hitting the market. The cheap stuff is mostly crap, but there are a few gems, and aside from some new exotics, the price trend has been downward for good suppliers with their quality trending upward (though the prices for good filament definitely aren’t dropping as fast as the prices for crap filament, which is also better than it used to be).

Now, maybe 4 or 5 years ago, there was a big increase in price. Prices nearly doubled, essentially overnight, and some of them haven’t come back down. This was about the same time that filament went from loose coils to spools being standard. It was also around the beginning of the transition from 3mm filament to 1.75.
