Do you want to hack esp8266 that is already embedded into a cool product? Take a look where I found our beloved chip with all dev pins nicely exposed for tinkering. The factory firmware prevents me from adding this to my DIY home automation system. Follow me to get updates on the hacking process.

I opened up one of my Philips HUE lamp. It has something that looks like a ESP.

@Christian_Grenfeldt Have you seen any dev pins exposed inside the Hue? Hue is very expensive but I believe it comes with a good support across different home automation systems. Read the chip name if possible and you will know what are you dealing with. I’d be surprised if Hue would be as hackable as this one. High end gadgets don’t usually use the modules.

@NotEnoughTECH it look just like a esp-12. But not an etched cover, it’s blank.
So all pins are accessible in the same way.

Philips is using the zigbee protocol to control the lights

Cool - would you share a picture as well? I’m curious :)@Christian_Grenfeldt

I was öppning for it. But it’s on the Lost SD card. I’ll take a new picture tomorrow. (I have to take down the lamp)

Take a look at this, another esp866 poder outlet. (Get a couple of this form about 12€ a couple of weeks ago)https://www.google.es/amp/s/diyprojects.io/hack-connected-sonoff-s20-plug-esp-easy-rules/amp/

@Luis_Diaz the link is broken can you double check?

@NotEnoughTECH Sorry about that, don’t know what happened. Here is a video about this Sonoff s20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbaMF6zfQZU
