No clue why G+ chose that picture for the link. The method discussed does NOT use a probe.
Use brass washers and you can solder to them. Or use crimpable loop connecters that you put on wires as washers
@Daniel_Joyce : Attaching the wires has not been a major source of concern/difficulty. I’ve soldered directly to some zinc washers with good results but decided to use crimped pin connectors for ease of installation and removal.
