Does anybody know what is the best place to get aluminium Flex shaft couplers in Europe?

For a z-axis, these: http://www.ebay.de/itm/5x8mm-CNC-Motor-Jaw-Shaft-Coupler-5mm-To-8mm-Flexible-Coupling-OD-20-x-25mm-Alu-/300789724684?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460876f60c are absolutely unsuitable since they also flex linearly and therefore introduce layer height inconsistencies as the printhead moves around. I use these: http://www.ebay.de/itm/300729318222?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648 with bottom mounted motors and am getting excellent results - with top-mounted motors the plum couplings will just fall apart, so you don’t have much of a choice there.
Also check on which side the flexible shim is in your steppers - this might also introduce linear flex. On bottom-mounted motors, you should not be able to push the shaft into the stepper housing. If your motors do allow you to push the shaft in, then open them up and install the flex shim on the opposite side. For top-mounted motors it’s the other way around: You shouldn’t be able to pull the shaft away from the housing, which in my experience is the standard configuration for many steppers.

Try zapp automation in the UK. They are quite good

Zapp are really good, however they don’t seem to carry much stock.
