Does anyone have a rock solid wi-fi connection going on their BeagleBone Black yet? Which device/drivers are you using? I can get a connection working but it dies after some time. Thanks.

@Gerald_Coley pointed me to the Wiki where a couple of proven adapters for use on Angstrom are listed: http://circuitco.com/support/index.php?title=BeagleBoneBlack#WIFI_Adapters

I’m running @Robert_Nelson 's kernel 3.8.13-bone20, using TP-Link TL-WN822N (ath9k_htc driver). They work well in the sense that it’s mostly stable to just connect the board. With two of these USB nics as a dual radio wireless repeater and high throughput such as streaming video, the stability goes (slowness, high load and occasional crashes). Current uptime is 17 days, the thing runs icinga plus cacti (so not idle) and it does everything wireless, there is no ethernet cable plugged in. The dual radio setup is in place but usually without any clients.

I’ve noticed that if I have a continuous ping going in an ssh window on the BeagleBone Black that it never drops the connection. Perhaps the power save rules I specified aren’t working. This might be easier than I thought.

Here’s a more detailed discussion of my tests. It looks like unless the connection is continuously active or the BBB is powered via 5V AC adapter, wireless isn’t stable with or without powered USB hub. Need someone to duplicate these results to make sure I’m not fooling myself somehow. Any ideas why? https://groups.google.com/d/msg/beaglebone/06wZtbBVAuY/_X4sdMTnGrgJ
