Does anyone know if the APA102 driver chip (build in in the led) is also separately available? Just like the ws2811 (which is in the ws2812)? I want to run a normal rgb strip in “series” with a APA102 strip, so I don’t need extra data and clock pins.
If you were doing that and wanted the APA102C for the refresh rate, you might as well use the LPD8806, no?
I want 8bit (actually more, but that’s why I use the dithering algorithms). The LPD8806 is 7bit. I’m really fond of the APA102. This idea if something extra, no need. Otherwise I just use a low-density strip of APA102.
Aha, fair enough. The LPD8806 being 7 bit had escaped my mind.
Are you going to come to Amsterdam for any of http://www.amsterdamlightfestival.com/ by the way? Give me a shout if you do.
I’ll shout if I do. Don’t know yet, pretty busy the upcoming month.
