Does anyone know if you can run two 40mm fans with one printrboard by just splicing in the second fan?
If you mean the Fan PWM pin then I wouldn’t. Little tiny transistor on that pin is known to let out the magic smoke.
The fan output is driven by a small mosfet and secured by a 500mA/1A fuse. If your fans don’t draw more than that (40mm ones shouldn’t), you should be fine. If anything, the polyfuse would trip and keep the board from frying up. @Brian_Evans is the board really that badly designed?
Yeah, check this out: http://www.printrbottalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=3425 Looks like that was changed in the newest revision b/c it didn’t have a polyfuse on that line before Rev.F. So yes, my opinion is conservative but the more correct answer is that it will depend on how old your Printrboard is.
