Does anyone know of a place where I can source filtration items?

Does anyone know of a place where I can source filtration items? For example small type all purpose HEPA Filters and Carbon Activated Filters.

I’m having the hardest time locating a brick store and or online store that sells these items.

Looking to source something like the following pic below:

Thanks in advance.

I can tell ya it’s not going to be an easy find. What are your dimensions?

I’m not looking for any particular dimension at this time. I just want to locate something as small as the filter I posted in the pic. Once I’m able to find a distributor that carries filters as small the one shown I will then see which size is more readily available and go from there in selecting what size I want.

I agree with you, it’s been difficult locating a company that carries this stuff especially in the US.

By the way this particular filter is roughly 6x6x3/4 (in)

That’s small. Have you tried warehouse/wholesale suppy companies like Grainger and/or harbour freight? They usually have everything you could imagine and more still

I bought a small round filter and designed and printed a holder that takes a PC case fan. I keep meaning to share the design on Thingiverse, but haven’t done so yet.

On the activated charcoal side you might want to look aquarium filters or filters for pet drinking fountains. The drinkwell brand fountains use an activated charcoal filter that is 5 1/2" by 3 1/2".

I bought this for my activated carbon: http://www.amazon.com/Marineland-PA0371-Activated-10-Ounce-283-Gram/dp/B0002566WE?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

$7 for 10oz.

@Mark_Rehorst yes you’re correct about the vacuum cleaner filters however they are usually just Hepa not Hepa and carbon activated.

@Joe_Morrison I looked at aquarium filters however it’s the opposite of what I replied to @Mark_Rehorst in that the fish filters are usually just carbon and not Hepa and carbon. However I need to look more into this.

Thanks for the share @Jon_Stern I’ll see how I can alter my design to fit this and see if it’s worth it. If you don’t mind me asking how did you implant this stuff in your use?

Maybe you can use active carbon car filter. Normally this filter used for car air condition.

@Mark_Rehorst I second the vacuum cleaner HEPA filter idea.

I designed a piece that screwed to the fan with a cylindrical tall lip. I then had a taller cylindrical charcoal container with a thin gauze on the bottom held in place by a twist lock base piece.

Hard to describe really. I really should publish the design.

Rumba filters can be store bought here. In large electronics stores.

@Tommy_Wong I originally looked into this however most of the ones I researched including the one I have in my car are way to big.

@Daid_Braam I did t think about the Rumba filters. I’ll take a look at that.

I’m essentially trying to find something small and that can be easily sourced.

You might want to consider cutting a larger filter into multiple smaller filters?

I found Honeywell filters at Target. They sell the HEPA and carbon mesh separately. I’ve found carbon mesh in large sheets at my local hardware store and cut it down.

I have one suggestion, how about using the Activated carbon filter sponge for HAKKO 493.

I have two printed attachments for my filter. One uses the loose granules, the other uses these odor absorbing discs: http://www.buyactivatedcharcoal.com/product/all_gone_odor_eliminator

The only issue with the All Gone pods is my 120mm case fan had trouble pushing much air through them. I tried the highest power fan available in the 120mm format, but that was too noisy for me.

I finally found what I was looking for. The only down side I can’t find it in the US.
