Does Cura still support Linux?

Does Cura still support Linux? The only build I find on the Ultimaker site is in the “unsupported” section, and looks pretty old…

Hmm could have sworn the linux version was available on the same page as mac & windows until recently:
There are build for debian etc (december , not too old)
http://software.ultimaker.com/?show=all
Last I checked / tried, building from the github source is trivial

I’m using 13.11.2 from October last year.

Good question, cura ask me to update to the last version on my ubuntu but download failed because missikng linux package :frowning:

more info on this : https://github.com/daid/Cura/issues/699

@Daid_Braam , any info/update on this , perhaps some help needed to generate the package ?

The available release at http://software.ultimaker.com/?show=all is only 2 months old. That’s not “pretty old”. And it’s not in the “unsupported” section. I do not like how quite a few linux users assume everyone is out to get them. I pull 1 linux version due to problems and suddenly linux users start to complain that we are stopping linux support. I’ve pulled windows and mac versions before. No real problems, people just asked if things where wrong and if I missed something. Pull back a linux release, and people question your support for linux.

But, got something even better for you: http://software.ultimaker.com/Cura_closed_beta/
Release candidates for 14.02, both 32 and 64 bit. Has a few minor bugs, but quite a few new nice features.

Bit of history. I had to pull the 14.01 version due to a packaging problem. It could remove python on some debian installs. Someone figured out what I messed up and fixed it, so I now have a working package again. Problems where due to 32/64 bit conflicts.

Anyhow, we’re in the process of hiring an extra software developer at Ultimaker. He is linux minded, has patches in the linux kernel, and runs linux on all his machines. We’re just lucky that we came across him. While we did not hire him specifically for his linux knowledge, it did help in the choice. Still doubt my continued support for linux?

I didn’t mean to offend you @Daid_Braam , I had to click this link to find the Linux downloads:

“Click here to also see unstable/testing and older downloads.”

…which I took to mean that the Linux stuff was unsupported and older

In any case I’m happy to hear that Cura on Linux will continue, as I recently switched over to it from Slic3r on the Mac, and want to get it installed on my lab machines (which are mostly Linux).

@Daid_Braam : you’re right ! Sorry for the buzz about it. I guess that we love cura so much that we’re scared to go it away…and it’s not justified.

Good news for ultumaker, it continue to growing up !

Regards

@Daid_Braam a small notice on the download page would probably help against worried users bombarding you with questions about it.
