Does the Printrbot printer really takes 3 weeks to ship?? 
Supply chain issues is what I’m hearing.
Seemed to increase right after CES. People catching the itch!
@Evan_Nguyen wow… I bought it cuz I figured I would get it right away… I got an email saying that it was back in stock so I didn’t think about it twice
@Jim_Wilson but if they say it’s back in stock, this means they are ready to ship as u buy right?
Unless they had 20 or so and they got dozens of orders all at once, totally happens with small shops like that

I posted 2-3 weeks because of a huge backlog. We tipped over 450 orders earlier in the week, but shifted into high gear and are now around 240. 100 of those were kits we busted out in a couple days. We average 50 bots a day but are shooting for 400 a week in February to try and reach same or next day shipping. Sourcing hurt us b/c of Black Friday but we recovered and now have everything we need. The slowdown now is not enough build techs but managing headcount is super important in a lean company. We may add one builder, but since we are over the hump, we should be fine. We are exploring lots of new efficiencies and have expanded and reconfigured the entire shop building dedicated assembly lines for kits, simple metal and metal plus. I hate long lead times but 2015 should be the year we are differentiated by really fast shipping.

@Brook_Drumm in that case, why offer different shipping options?? In my case o chose to pay $76 or something like that so I would get it within 3 days lol… Imagine If I would of done next day but still have to wait 3 weeks just to get it shipped.
@javierymirna it’s a normal reality of small business, have you never encountered shipping delays before? This isn’t uncommon for maker-related items.

@Jim_Wilson Hi Jim! yeah i understand… is just that I feel like I made a mistake! lol I really need a 3D printer that i can get up an running ASAP… but i missed the tree week lead time when i bought the makerbot… i could of have another printer for an extra $500 next week ready to go with materials included… my bad tho, only me to blame for not paying attention to the fine print.
I agree that expedited shipping shouldn’t be offered to products that aren’t in stock.

I’m happy to refund the difference in shipping if it hasn’t shipped yet. Btw- it won’t be 3 weeks.

Sometimes I have to wait a few days to get airplane parts then have them shipped next day.
