@DongWon_Han_DWONH Here is a few pictures I already had. The ribbon cable is taped and cable tied to the motor.
Cable management is a bit rushed on this mendel 90 sturdy due to limited build time, but ribbon cable is great to work with and I like the end result.
Is that frame mdf ? I love the simplicity
Great work! I appreciate your post.
But I’m afraid to say that It would be better for me to wire using connectors for better looking and easy maintenance.
Thanks.
The main point of ribbon cable use is to avoid excessive bending @DongWon_Han_DWONH , as ribbon cable mounted like this can stand a lot of movement over a long periode of time without breaking. You can buy breakout boards for din connectors on eBay if you like. Those who come with screw connectors are a bit bulky though. Have fun with your build!
Thanks @Mr_covert . Yes it’s mdf, a quite dense type I’ve been told. A friend cut it on a cnc for me. I should have painted it though, as moisture can become a problem since this printer may be taken to shows at times. It’s just a regular Mendel 90 sturdy mdf version, so all credit for the design goes to nophead.
I have a Mendal Max 1.5 I built so I recognize most the layout. I’ve been thinking to covert mine to ribbon like that. It was not done when I built mine. I might also just print a cable chain because… I can
@Mr_covert I have a cable chain on a prusa i2, it works very good as well
@Peter_Hertel Thanks again.
I hope my comment didn’t offend your feeling,(I didn’t mean your work is not good)
Please understand I’m not native speaker, sometimes it is hard to express the point.
@DongWon_Han_DWONH didn’t even occur to me.
I’m not a native speaker either, so don’t worry. Have fun!
Looks great
