Driving companion.

That’s my custom designed Cohesion 3D printer. Modular toolheads let us swap between filament printing with an E3D to printing with UV Resin and conductive ink for embedded Electronics Inside Plastic. Also folds flat for storage and the print quality is amazing!

Do a test print wile driving… Just for funzies

Hehehe will do. Just waiting for one last part to finish printing and then I’m getting this guy operational.

Child restrainer seat needed?
Can we see some of the prints?

More images/details of the machine would be nice. DIY linear slides on Y?

@Ivan_Hoe Funny you mention that as one of my friends said to me, “Don’t you know the law? All babies need to be in car seats until age 4!”
@korpx You got it! The frame is made from @OpenBuilds1 V Slot and all the linear motion axes use the Solid V Wheels. The Y axis takes a lot of inspiration from CNC machines and uses one of @Mark_Carew_OpenBuild 's designs called Belt and Pinion. The belt is static and constrained under the beam.

Ha, the first time I moved my i2 in a car…

Now it just gets thrown in the boot (trunk).

@Bracken_Dawson that’s funny. I was taking it to a meeting so I wanted to show some compassion, plus he’s a valued member of the family. Now for that 2’x4’ printer I’m working on… that’ll go in the back of the van no question.

Does this get you into the carpool lane?

@Matt_Harrington I don’t think people are going to be questioning a 10 year old minivan in the carpool lane to begin with… But he is the latest member of the family, that’s for sure.

super
