Due to my low budget i couldnt afford buying the legit thing so i gonna try to make my own. Not trying to take any credit here and its just for personal use. Any potential customers will be referred to its rightful maker
Are you reflow soldering on your stove?! What the heck is that photo showing @Cristian_Martinez ?
Oh yeah thats where i do all my reflow soldering. I still need to 3D print the stencil thou but this is just the PCB and the LEDs. I attempted to hand solder them but it wasnt looking right so i took it all appart and cleaned it up. Ill give it a shot once i get some new solder paste as mine has turned from paste to concrete even thou it was stored in its original container. Not sure what happened lol
Ive already 3D printed the frame for it out of PETG hoping it all goes well
haha, looking forward to seeing more.
You will if its successful lol
@marmil how do you do your reflow soldering?
I still poke at stuff with a hot stick until I accidently fuse something together. I’ve never tried reflow soldering. Was under the impression you needed an oven with a special temperature control.
Nah man ive been reflow soldering on my stove since last year. Just get the low temp solder paste. 138C i set my stuff to #6 and you can see when it starts to melt and grab all the pieces. Thats a good time to cut the stove off. Itll stay hot enough for small adjustments but if you let it sit there too long with the stove on the solder mask at the bottom will begin to melt and it will not end well. I speak from experience. I couldnt get the stench out of my house or my nose for days lol
Electrix stove? I could see how it would stay hot for a bit after you turn it off. A gas stove would cool too fast with that thin skillet…
You definitely need low temp paste to make sure the LEDs don’t overheat (they die quickly if they ever get too hot). Your PCB looks pretty good, the notches in the corners for the hinge pieces can be hard for PCB manufacturers to get right!
@Garrett_Mace hey Garrett
yeah this was done by PCBway. Only PCB manufacturer i use
Holy crap, that’s awesome haha.
Just got back in town from my vacation. Ill spare some time to get these things going in time for Christmas
