Edit:
I just realized that I made a wrong calculation… I think Cura said this print was going to be 4 days and 8 hours… I think I added 48 and 8. Obviously there are 24 hours in a day, not 12. This would make this a 104 hour print… Well then you factor in that I boosted the speed 50% and I think we’re looking at more like an 80 hour print! This is taking forever! Lol. I should have done some stuff to make it go faster. It didn’t need to be THAT smooth.
Also the heater wires on my print bed broke so I have no heat and it’s possible that the part could just pop off and screw the whole thing up. That would really suck as you can see that I’m over 55 hours in…
Original post:
The start of a “56” hour print, my longest yet. Let’s see how it goes… Fingers crossed!
7… Hours… Later… Lol. I had to turn the speed up to 150%. It was going too damn slow.
13 hours in. I increased the print speed to 150% which should put it at about 45mm/s. Slowly but surely.
17.5 hours in. Looking good so far!
We could have some fun guessing what this is? I’ve not a a clue yet.
@John_Kelleher it’ll probably take a while for you to figure it out. It’s not something cool. Lol. 23 hours in!
I’m now at 24.5 hours and it’s looking pretty good but I’m only at 17%… It seems like if it was suppose to take 56 hours that it should be at about 45% not including me turning it up to 150%. What gives?
%age though the GCODE file and %age through the time may be very different. If it has large moves near the beginning of the job but lots of tiny moves towards the end then those tiny moves are a lot of GCODE, but not necessarily a lot of time.
Or to put it in more technical terms: is it pointy?
@Mark_Wheadon no, it’s not pointy. But that percentage, what is it actually stating? The percentage of total moves it has to perform or is it layers? Because if it’s layers, that’s much more understandable. Once it gets a little bit higher it’ll start moving through the layers a lot faster. The base is just really dense. About another inch or so up and it won’t be printing much of anything except the sides.
It’s how far through the actual text file you are. The gcode file. So lots of short moves will take up lots of space in the file but not take a long time.
@Mark_Wheadon hmmm. I guess we’ll have to see. I’ll keep posting pictures and see how it progresses.
29% at 31.5 hours and counting!
Please do! I can’t believe how anxious I am to learn what your printing.
Check it out, I hooked up a live feed camera so I can see it from work because I’m a nerd like that. Lol. It’s even got night vision! Should be at about 34 hours now.
45.5 hours at 50% I ended up losing 3 of my support towers so hopefully that doesn’t cause any issues. So far it seems to be doing fine without them.
