Endstop disconnecting board from PC

So I have finally got my machine moving correctly in the Z (up and down), however home is now not working.

I have wired my microswitch to normally closed, so there is one wire on the common, and one on NC. Then on the board I have them connected to GND and +. My understanding is that this completes the circuit, and pressing the button will make it open and hence stop the current going to the motor. This worked with our previous boards (Sanguinololu).

Yet whenever I plug this wiring into the board it disconnects from Pronterface and all the flashing lights on the board turn off.

Can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong here. I’m hoping I have just wired it incorrectly as I have absolutely no idea when it comes to all the software/firmware sides of things.

Then on the board I have them connected to GND and +.

That’s going to cause a short-circuit and turn off the board ( and potentially damage it )
