ESP8266-driven WS2812B LED staff! Four independent strips each directly powered with a an 18650 cell (nominal 3.7V), controlled with a NodeMCU clone running the ESP8266 port of FastLED.
Wow, excellent project. Looks super!
Looks amazing. How long do you expect the battery to last?
Ever think of writing up basic tutorial of how you programmed ESP8266. I have had limited success with mine need to find good write up how to use with FastLED.
How many LEDs total?
Very bloody cool!
Any chance we will see your code?
This is great- I’ve been thinking about building something like this for a few years now. My original inspiration came from here- http://hackaday.com/2013/10/29/led-magic-staff-just-in-time-for-halloween/
I like your spiral better.
Would you mind sharing details on the plastic tube?
I will post code soon…the tube is 2" polycarb from Amazon. The batteries last hours but that is of course with a fraction of full brightness.
Can’t wait to get back home to work on something similar… I love it.
Could you post a build log? Like what board did you use to regulate the power from the Batteries to the esp8266? Wiring?
Can you share the code
And some diagrams
dude you are just completely awesome! im getting a NodeMCU in the mail soon and this staff definitely looks like a good place to put it!
ETA on the code? Im still too much of a noob to make anything more than single colors on a strip lol
Could you post your 3d printed files for the 18650 holders?
