Ethernet connection locks up after initial access

I am able to connect to my Azteeg X5 mini when I open it through my web browser the first time without an issue. When I close this and then reopen and retry I get the error that tit took too long to respond.

Few things I have noticed
-azteeg needs to be restarted before I can access the site again
-the USB connection is plugged in but not actively connected
-uploading gcode genereated from S3D says upload failed.
-homing and jogging works fine in classic interface
-imrahils improved interface loads but does not load the jog controls the area under the header Controls is completely empty

If anyone has experienced a similar issue it would be much appreciated if you could share how you dealt with it!

This is the first time ever I hear of somebody actually using Ethernet on the Azteeg, so this is new territory.

Maybe somebody else in the community knows.

Wow why is that? I thought that was the recommended method for connecting to smooothieware? A big reason I moved away from my Azteeg X3 was because my USB connection was not that reliable and having ethernet built onto the board meant I didnt need to rely on the SDcard or USB connection.

Is this because V3 is a newer revision of the board?

Well, yes, but ethernet is a new feature on the azteeg x5. You even had to use an external board right ?

Nope the ethernet jack is presoldered onto the board. That is a huge bummer thought it was definitely a stable feature.

Hey.

I didn’t notice that the latest version did have it on-board. Maybe there is something wrong with this specific board ?

Cheers.

Hope not, already having a hell of a time dealing with being sent the wrong driver chips and being charged double for shipping. Really dont want to be the bad guy and open up a paypal dispute but coming onto a month quite soon. Looks like ill continue printing from USB for awhile, additionally I am connected to the board through an ethernet hub if that makes any difference.

I’ve also purchased an x5 mini and have the exact same issues as you describe. I have not been able to figure out a solution as of yet. It is very frustrating.

well on the bright side at least im not feeling completely crazy. Have you tried contacting Panacutt about it?

Hi,
I have the same symptoms with the 5X smoothiboard. The leds in the board stay all on when it freezes. I’m running on latest edge.

But using telnet I never had a freeze, just when using the browser app.

There seemed to have been a bug in the main smoothie firmware that’s been patched now. All problems appear to be fixed since downloading the nightly build!

Latest edge also solved my problems with web ui. I can now access it without problems and can print.

However, if I reload the web ui during prints controller still crashes. No telling messages in serial log. It just becomes unresponsive till hard reset.

I have just updated to the last Edge yesterday into my smoothieboard and i have the same crash over ethernet (all the led lights are on), using the Imrahil’s improved interface. the classic and the CNC iweb interface works fine. Do you have a solution for this bug??

The board simply isn’t designed for the interface to be reloaded during a print.
Never reload the web page, or access the SD card via USB, or via Ethernet, while a print is going on. That is not supported, and will likely never be supported on v1

My smoothie crashes without reloading or even starting a print. I just power on the board, go to the browser and choose the Imrahil’s interface and thats it… hard reset.

Ok that’s not normal.
What do the LEDs do when it resets ? Does it still answer over USB after that reset ?
Would you mind formatting your SD card, and pasting a fresh config file and firmware file off the website ?
What board exactly are you using ?

Everything works fine after the reset, just that custom interface (the one i used because its nicer). I updated because i wanted to test the new motion control firmware. I started from a new config file and all works fine so far, except that nasty crash. Im using a 5x board.

Is it only when using the interfaces on the SD card, or also using the “intergrated” interface ?
Does accessing the board via pronterface over Ethernet crash it ?

Only when using the interfaces on the SD card, only the Imrahil’s interface (even the jog and home commands ara missing), the intergrated interface works fine, pronterface works fine with both ethernet and USB.
