Ever have your computer decide that it’s a great time to do updates and restart your computer in the middle of a ridiculously long print? Yep… -_-

At least it wasn’t like http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com/2010/08/friday-13th.html!

ouchh!

I only print from SD card, also saves communication problems

Linux is the answer … Stayed away from MS for years because of things like that. 1st month with a win 7 PC it happened to me again.

Nope, never had this problem. Seriously, if its a machine with a specific duty, turn off auto anything. Set it up and leave it to do is job. Better yet, set up your printer with sd printing. Ramps + smart lcd (with sd support) <$50 from Chinese suppliers if you are strapped for cash and can’t order from a community supplier. Not worth the headache.

@OctoPrint  is your friend.

I don’t use an OS where that happens, but I imagine it would be pretty terrible.

Turn off the auto restart

Like most here… I just don’t use Windows for those kinds of tasks.

I use a Raspberry Pi running OctoPi for my Printrbot Simple Metal. Great software.

Haha that is exactly why I bought my lcd with an ad card slot.

doh…

Is it possible to restart? http://www.instructables.com/id/continue-failed-3d-print

@John_Davis yeah, I really think small clients that run OctoPrint or BotQueue are the future as opposed to standalone desktop machines.

I know some people use a dedicated mini laptop for just their printer. But the same could occur.

I completely agree @Mark_Rehorst . I always use my lcd unless im editing something in marlin.

The less things atached the less things can go wrong. LCD is the way
