Everybody get ready for the slide into the “Trough of Disillusionment!”
(Consumer 3D printing has just passed the “Peak of Inflated Expectations.”)

I’d put 3d scanning well behind printing. But they don’t say consumer 3d scanning.
@Jeff_DeMaagd Commercial 3D scanning is fairly well advanced and has been for several years. Companies like Faro make robust systems and as it is with their counterpart commercial 3D printers the price tags are steep. Well into six figures for an advanced machine. I’d agree that consumer 3D scanning is well behind where consumer/DIY 3D printing is right now.
Well, a crowdfunded 3D printer seems to be a good way to slide into the trough of disappointment.
