Everybody know s that aerodynamics is an important part of Formula 1 car design so i thought why not give it a try on the OpenRC F1 in Autodesk Flow just for fun. =)
Looks to me like there is a lot of opportunity to create more downforce. It would be fun to run an F1 RC racing series where all of the cars would have to be 3D printed within a set of regulations. An OpenRC FIA F1, if you will.
@Nate_T Yes, a 3D printed series would be awesome. I have suggested this in other groups so who knows? In the case of OpenRC it needs suspension first. In case you have missed it there is another open F1 that is more race oriented (HPD F1 see link). And hopefully there is soon an independent third version with some components in common released by a third developer.
This makes that there are several alternatives to choose from and people can develop their own option parts and race. A little like F1 (more like Indy car maybe as F1 forces the teams to have their own design)
BTW, Daniel how much down force and drag did you get? I saw some person had 83g of down force on a tamiya (155 with alternative configuration) Speed is unknown though.

@Kent_Asplund This was done in a extremely slow software that’s outdated years ago. I did not examine any data, i just did it for the fun of it.
But using this from the start of a design would be interesting for those making new designs.
If i would make another f1 it would be a Ronnie Petterson Lotus 78.
My focus with OpenRC is mainly accessibility, easy printing etc. So performance is far down on the list if even on it. But who knows in the future. It would be fun to mert up and discuss these things sometime… =)
@Daniel_Noree
Yes we should definitely meet. I am planning a trip to Nyköping (and probably Karlstad) in the summer to drive with some of the other 3D F1 enthusiasts so with some planning we could meet.
And yes I know that yours and my goals are different.
@Kent_Asplund Im in Oxelösund so let me know if you would like to hook up in Nyköping, that would be awesome!
