Explanation of novel XY mechanical system.

Explanation of novel XY mechanical system. For want of a better name I am calling it “Twisted C” as it takes the shape of the letter C with another C above it rotated 90 degrees. I have attached renders of the X and Y axis combined with the printhead as well as renders of X and Y axis with arrows showing cable direction.

Ah, that seems straightforward. Like the Y axis of Sli3Dr but two of them running a cross gantry.

I think that’s how the QuadRap works, although your implementation seems very clean and orderly in comparison.

@Ryan_Carlyle Yes! Exactly like the Y axis of Sli3dr twice, combined with the ultimaker style cross bars . Or like Quadrap with different cable routing instead of 4 motors.

It is basically a variation of what you see when you (carefully,) open an Etch a Sketch (There are more variations, but I saw one exactly like this). Or Watercolorbot. But with one part upside-down to have both motors in the same corner.

Really clever design. I really like it !

This looks very clean and I like that both stepper motors are on one side. I would put the two steppers on the back side just to have all 3 motors in the same area so all cables/etc would be as short as posible and no mess on the whole frame.
I wonder though if the total length of cable/belt is less or more than a corexy…
Congrats!
