If you wrap insulation around the bottom of the jhead, you can print without a fan. I do!
The picture is actually a knock off J-head. The real ones have a brass nozzle, not Al, are considerably smaller, and don’t have the little extension at the nozzle. Also the PEEK has 5 vents, not 4.
@Robert_Tusa http://e3d-online.com if you’re across the pond from us 'muricuns. Also, the picture is NOT a real J-head. It’s only got 4-flutes, all genuine J-heads have 5. This one is also likely missing the PTFE inner liner, which means it’s going to be a pile of crap.

@Matt_Bordoni what makes you think that the PICO will outperform the E3D? The PICO is riddled with wrong material choices, non-distinct thermal zones, a non-functional heatsink and all that is backed up by a shoddy simulation that makes way too many assumptions.
The E3D is so successful because the people who are actually using it are having a great time with it. We’ll have to see what kind of feedback the PICO gets before one can honestly recommend it.
