Originally I was going to situate the extruder motor on the opposite side of the Z-axis to the X-axis motor (similar to the Bukito) to spread the load (or so I thought!). However after some testing I found that the X-axis was already idler end heavy without adding a motor that to side!
With the position I have now placed the extruder the X-carriage can sit between one third and half way of its travel equally balanced.
This off balance shouldn’t be a problem as the V-slot system is extremely solid though I thought it best to keep stresses to a minimum where I can!
@Custom_Creations , are you planning on using vslot or regular alu extrusions?, if regular alu extrusions, im in, let me know if you need help to designt it, i was going to start drawing it on solidworks today.
@Custom_Creations , cool!, i was thinking about using syncromesh too, so we are on sync. Maybe we can work together?, i want to keep it small, with 20x20 and 20x40 (actually, double 20x20, theres no 20x40 down here). I figure out that the main design would be the same, just scaled down and with a few tweaks.
