Fascinated by clocks
Is it possible to use cnc to cut wooden gears for a clock
If so I’d like to investigate making a clock/ calander for both Gregorian calander and for Hebrew calander

Yeah I was looking into it there is a way you can cut gears have a look at escapement clocks
gear templates http://woodgears.ca/
some plans http://lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/Claytonsite1.htm
Try this link they already have the clocks worked out. I bought some plans and am working on the cam now. http://www.woodentimes.com/
Slightly off topic. Inkscape has a gear profile generator. I bet if you look hard enough someone may have made a clock gear generator plugin.
Check out @Art_Fenerty_ArtF ’s http://gearotic.com. Art produces a CAD/CAM package that can generate and simulate all kinds of gears that can be cut on a CNC. I have been meaning to buy it myself to play with clock gears. Art also has a forum for clock enthusiasts at his site.
Yes it is possible try searching google for wooden clocks, I found a few free designs and was able to convert the pdf drawings to dxf and then load them into cambam to generate the gcode
I built a clockworks by CNC. Without a 4th axis I had to use very small end mills (.050 and .100 inch diameter) Small end mills like this usually aren’t longer than .25 inch so wooden gears get thin. I ended up doing the whole thing out of .25 inch polycarb sheet.
For plans I ended up modifying a wooden clock plan for plastic. Super rewarding to hear it tick for the first time!
