Feeling a bit like Hamlet…
Ok, for the pros…don’t laugh, but I’m finally getting my reworked Prusa i3 in order. Built this the hard way by hacksawing rods to create a 300mm Y axis and printing all of the parts on my modified Simple.
I kept getting frustrated with the print quality (see the close-ups of the Skellington iPhone cases). The black one showed what I thought was poor layer adhesion, etc. But when I watched closely, I could see the frame of the printer slightly deflect when changing direction.
So I made a base for the printer and attached the printer MDF frame to the board (see angle brackets). The clear case shows the marked improvement over the black one. I had to tear the printer apart to drill the frame, so I’m still needing to get everything leveled. But the quality is vastly improved and not seriously degraded by speed like it was before.
I printed the skull at .3mm @ 70mm/s over about 15 hrs (geesh). Printed without support as it’s hollow. The eye sockets were an adventure. By far the largest single print I’ve ever done.
