Femtoduino: Smaller than a Trinket – and more powerful.
With all the talk about the Trinket and Gemma recently, it’s worth also mentioning the Femtoduino. The Femtoduino is basically a full-strength ATmega 328 (Arduino Uno), but in a physical package that’s about the size of a penny. It’s smaller than the Gemma or the Trinket, has a full compliment of pins, and is extremely well supported by standard Arduino libraries (it’s an Uno clone). The only catch is that it’s $19, but in the grand scheme of things, I’m tempted to say it’s worth a few dollars to avoid the limitations of the ATtiny-based Trinket and Gemma, but still get a tiny little board. Worth a look.

Give me an arm core with ~100kb ram in that package and I’ll be happy
That’d be the TeeneyTinyEensyWeensy3++.
Kickstarter coming soon.
Although really, the RFduino is an ARM Cortex M0 with 256K flash and 16K RAM, and it’s pretty small. Hardly got any SPAM in it at all!
Thanks for the post, I just put in for a few of them.
I don’t have any on hand yet, but they’re on my list for “what to build wearables with”.
I have a few astronomy projects I’m in need of shrinking from full size Uno’s. These should work great!
Sometimes it’s fun to see what you can do in the limited space of an ATtiny chip. That said, this looks pretty damn cool.
Just wait until you see what we are going to do next with the tiny :). Also I need to order some TCL lights, as I have support written but need to test it.
I have ZERO experience with ARM processors, otherwise I would take a stab at building a module … Sorry Dan.
No worries, my rfduino’s showed up today
that is almost the perfect size for my project!
