Figured I’d try here before posting to the duino forums…

I’m planning on making a project that’s going to require analogRead for parts of my code; caveat, the voltage is going to be from 12.3-14.6 (any guesses where it’s going to be?).

I know I’m going to need a voltage divider on the pin that is going to be based off the MAXIMUM voltage I could see.

Being as it will fluctuate by 2.3v, I was thinking of making an identical voltage divider parallel to the VIN of my converter to tie to the AREF pin as to get an accurate reading regardless of what my supply voltage is.

This is the first time I’ve used a duino in >5v so this is new territory.

Is this a safe practice? If so, is there a better way to be doing this?

Is it going to be in a car?

Right in one!

I’m going to have to work a bit at isolating the circuit from any transient changes/fluctuations/spikes that automotives are notorious for but that won’t be too large of an issue as it will be on the acc/run circuit so it won’t encounter starting the engine.

Hi @Jarrod_Wagner
I’ve installed a couple installations in cars. If you get this one, all your troubles are gone:
(has even automotive settings)

Pricey but excellent!!
