Finally all the parts are done. They seem fine. I’m ordering electronics tonight. I did not realize that the v0.4.9 smartrap has different x and y axis bearings and rods so I’m glad I waited to order till I printed the parts.
I will post again when it is partly assembled… Or I mess up the build… Probably the second.
I like my smartrap - quiet and little to no maintenance (I love auto leveling on it). Reliable secondary printer.
Gonna be my first so I’m excited. I’ve used them for about a year but never bought one. I figured it was time to get one.
would you make it to sale it? If yes I will tell you the model and size I’m looking to make.
Ive built a couple of smartraps. It does work nicely and actually travels well. Some of the designs work better than others. Also make sure you do the one with belts. I canned auto leveling it was a pain and shimmed the platform with blue tape to level the bed worked quite well. One observation your infill may be a little on the low side. I built mine with a dual print head that works nicely.
@Nizar_NN sorry this ones staying with me. I am either doing a 8x10x8 build volume or an 8x8x8 build volume. I would highly recommend that you try to build one as if you do a little searching you can get all the parts for like $250 (I bought used steppers-5 for $50). Building anything lets you know your machine much better.
@Michael_Scholtz I really want to put dual extrusion on mine but I’ve yet to see anyone do it. Have you posted pictures of your dual extrusion anywhere? And yes I am going with gt2 pulleys. I think that the fishing line is a waste and slow and the rack and pinions are ok but gt2 seems like a solid build choice.
