Finally get the design for the spindle plate done. Time to finish up this ox so I can mill aluminum plate for our program.
I’ve thought about trying the same thing, but why not more infill?
Once happy, I am getting it milled from polycarbonate or aluminum.
I looked around for stls and am now trying to import the dxf into sketchup free so I can make my own. It looks like a file conversion game to try to get something that sketchup will take
@Charles_Reiche I’ve had some success with using OpenSCAD to import the DXF, extrude it, and then export to STL.
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenSCAD_User_Manual/DXF_Extrusion
The DXF I downloaded from the openbuilds site has polylines in it and other elements that openscad doesnt work with (yet). I am not a programmer.
It looks like Inkscape can import/Save as DXF files. Maybe you can import it there and then Save As to (slightly different) DXF to clean up the file for import into OpenSCAD or Sketchup?
@Charles_Reiche you don’t need to import the dxf’s to sketchup - the full Ox plans are in SKP.
@Charles_Reiche That link is the entire Ox x3 (one for Sketchup 7, 8 and 2014…)
If you just want the plates, here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lf4ukwexv55d7k1/Ox%2080%20Plates%20Only.skp?dl=0
Thanks!
