Finally got everything hashed out.

Finally got everything hashed out. What are everyone’s thoughts on where the motor settings should be set at? Additionally, I need some tips on the best types endmills for mdf, softwoods like pine, hardwoods like oaks, and aluminum.

From a general CNC perspective, I’ve had much luck with 1/8" carbide end mills (2 flute, upcut) from drillman1. I think he’s got his own site now and isn’t selling on eBay anymore. I’ve done alum, MDF, and garolite with them. There are other bits better suited for hard woods and if you’re not doing fine features you may be better off with 1/4" end mills.

I have collets for both 1/8 and 1/4 so I will be using both. I was looking at solid carbide single flute compression upcut bits since you can use them for many applications.

Hey @Austen_Greene check out the feeds and speeds article we had put up somewhere here. It’ll give you ideas of types sizes and materials.
