Finally got the mechanics done for dual extrusion.

Finally got the mechanics done for dual extrusion.

I think I can reduce the x distance, but I’m going with this for now for testing.

Now need to reconfigure and start testing.

What slicer are people using for dual extrusion? My nozzles are different sizes if that matters.

Looks great. I’m building one at the moment but I don’t know what settings to apply. Sorry about that. Good luck with your work anyway.

Why you don’t run both as Bowden tubes? It will make the print head super light!!! Just a suggestion.

I like to be able to print flexible filaments like ninjaflex which don’t work as well with bowden.

This is almost exactly what I’ve been planning to do! And for the exact same reasons! I’m assuming your planning on bringing the two heads closer together in a late version to reduce errors?

Yeah, it would be nice to get them a little closer to reduce the bed size lost. I’m not sure how it reduces error though. I do have plenty of Y distance so I may try to figure out how to orient the hot ends front to back. I will throe up a video of it printing.

It’ll reduce error because it minimises the height difference between the two tips that is caused by slop in the bearings/carriage/mountings.
Look forward to seeing the video!

Here’s the post with the video. I’ll keep that in mind when I look at issues that come up. https://plus.google.com/106506271396073110119/posts/HTNmzdBzZDG
