Finally got the Z axis done on my mini mill. Well the parts anyhow.

Finally got the Z axis done on my mini mill. Well the parts anyhow. I need to wire up the driver and the motor now.

Nice… Little close to the PC there it seems…

It’s a bit “cozy” but it work for now, until I get my mpg pendent wired in.

Cute little mill. I have a bench top mill but I need to use it by hand too much to CNC it.

Hi Eric, cool project. Have a look at this web-site http://www.cncrouterparts.com and also at http://openbuildspartstore.com.

@Paul_Frederick Thanks, It takes a bit of getting used to but you can be just as productive with the cnc if not more if you are good with cad/cam

@Jan_Venter Thanks for the links I have added them to my cnc bookmarks list.

The work I do on my mill is not suitable for automation.

Hey Eric, I like your mill. A very solid and beefy machine. Can’t wait to see some video of this bad boy in action. Cheers, Aaron (dctteacher1 on youtube).

It is an OK little machine. Have the lead screws been changed to ball screws?

I swapped out the acme lead screws for ball screws on the x and y. The Z only has .001 backlash. The X and Y balls screws are the non preloaded type so they have .0015 to .003. I have some used screws that are preloaded and have zero back lash. Maybe some day I will switch them out, but it will mean some new adaptors be made and fitted.

Nice Jig bore who makes that one?

It is a Downham made in England.
