Finally, I found a reliable way for dual extrusion of Filaflex and PETG with a bowden setup and the magnetic tool changer.

Awesome!!!

Well, there is the magnetic tool changer which I already showed a few times and there are new heaterblocks / nozzles from http://3dsolex.com with a different internal geometry. Originally designed for super fast extrusion I wanted to see if I can use them to print soft flexible filament with less temperature (oozing) and less back pressure (bowden issues).

Very nice, any issues with nozzle height being off from swap to swap?

No, already 1000+ hrs of printing, no repeat accuracy or reliability issues

Very nice! This may have to be a future modification to a printer. How did you inject the tool swap motion into your program?

All handled within the firmware: tool change, priming, wiping, temperature management.

Did you have to make any major changes to temperature on the initial bonding between materials? Is this in an enclosed case?

I had very little success with PLA and flexbile filaments so far. But PETG ( HG glass) and Filaflex seem to bond very well. Not really enclosed, just an UM2with bubble wrap on the front.

That model, was that a scan you came across? Are you running Cura still or something else?

Search Grabcad for “spine”. I’m using Simplify3D as current Cura (2.1.2) won’t slice this one correctly.

With this part printing speed won’t be that high (some 40 mm/s). But I remember having issues with PET at high speed and /or high velocity changes some time ago.

Great work as always. I’ve been following your work on tool changing for a while and it’s very impressive. Would love to see more details on your setup and how it changes

Thank you! Right now we’re in decision making phase how to bring this to the community and especially the UM2 users. Anyway, more info will be availabe this autumn.
