Finally! Little project coming together… Not bad for not having any CNC experience Thanks to ur tips
@Marc_Schaefermeyer
I don’t know what that is, but it’s pretty.
@Jim_Fancher
hehe… Thanks Jim! It’s a quadcopter arm and landing gear
Is this your own design? How much faster was this router compared to the quiet spindle? Did you change out the mount when you changed to the router? LOL, lots of questions!
@Bruce_Lunde Hi Bruce! Your starting to sound like me lol! Yes, this is my own design, it’s coming along really good, other then having to struggle with the code conversion software.
And yes, I did change the mounts, these ones look better then the originals that came with the quiet spindle. I could of use them but these ones just fit good and look better…
@Jeremy_Johnstone
It’s coming along J! Thanks for all ur help!!
@javierymirna Looking good! Is it a nice and tight fit? How are your ears and the dust? It sure feels good to finally make something doesn’t it? Good job!
@Marc_Schaefermeyer
Thanks Marc! hehe… sure does feel good! after waisting two 12"x12" 1/4" G10 Boards lol I can’t wait to have a complete frame and take it for a fly and see how it does…
@Marc_Schaefermeyer
Noise is getting to me… The fit, it’s not what I would like it to be… I’m wondering if the depth is affecting the slot cut and not letting it be right on the money…
@javierymirna the fit could also be if your tool is not square to the cutting bed. Or if there is play (movement) in the gantry.
You should practice on less costly material… I would have gone to home depot and gotten some ¼mdf to practice on.
@Marc_Schaefermeyer yeah… I’m just to desperate to get this thing flying I need to relax a bit
@Marc_Schaefermeyer fit is not perfect, it bugging me…
not sure if you are using a simulator or not, but running my gcode through openSCAM has saved me tons of time and material. I highly recommend using a simulator before you cut.
and congrats by the way… looks great!
It’s very nice. What material have you use for it?
@marcelo_echevarria
Hi Marcelo! So far just G10, I’m going to try Carbon Fiber eventually…
@Frank_Graffagnino
Hey Frank! Thanks a lot for the help
@Frank_Graffagnino
My main issue is depth, I got this two level slot where the arms lock in, and it seems like I get different heights on the locking level… So some of my arms are nice and tight and others are a bit loose… i try using the same spot on the Shapeoko bed to accomplish the same results, but not working so far…
Ahhh. Perhaps the bed isn’t level? Try lowering your bit just above the wasteboard near the front of the machine. Then, slowly push the gantry to the back and see of that tiny gap gets bigger or smaller. Try it along different points on the wasteboard both front to back and side to side. If it isn’t consistent, you’ll need to relevel or mill out the wasteboard to be level.
