Finally ready to announce this one. It’s a low cost hotend aimed at newer users and those who don’t have a huge budget to spend on their printer build. http://e3d-online.com/blog/lite6
I cringe so hard every time I watch this video. I hope it gives you guys a good laugh at our expense!
Too many people getting caught out with terrible ebay junk that just doesn’t work. Hopefully this price point, with a proper hotend to go with it will help!
Idk in think these are perfect for people who just want to run pla or similar. I may actually swap one other these for the v6 I’m running on my Prusa i3
I love this video. After meeting you guys at #MRRF , this shows a lot of people exactly what your personalities are like. I’m still waiting on my fan/shroud to get here, I want to make sure I go with the red shroud.
Btw, I am glad you guys didn’t announce this yesterday, I would totally think: $30+ for an e3d metal hot end? I am no fools. Hahaha, you can’t fool me on April Fools.
But since it is today, I am like: JUST TAKE MY MONEY!!!
This is fantastic. I’m pretty much stuck to pla, and as a new user I don’t mind. My wife did not like the smell of other polymers, but is ok with pla. This is exactly what I was looking for to replace my jhead.
@Zane_Mitchell If you are just printing low temp plastics the extra cost of the E3D v6 doesn’t add anything compared to a real JHead or good copy and it can give you more headaches. I just ordered one to see how they’d stack up in the low cost kit.
Not according to this: “In order to keep costs down we are offering Lite6 in 1.75mm filament diameter only, which meets the needs of the majority of users.”
oh look at that. your right. Well, heres your reason to switch to 1.75? There are alot more reasons to go 1.75 then to stay with 3. Really the only reason to stick with 3 is a back log of filament.
I think Matterhackers posted it April 1. I thought Matterhackers were promoting a poor clone that was aping the name.
I think it’s a smart addition to the product line. It gets people into the system for a low up-front cost, and offers an easy transition to other parts of the product line when they’re ready for higher temps and faster speeds. If I only cared about ABS or PLA, I think I’d rather go genuine J-Head because it has a longer melt zone.
@Joe_Spanier I disagree. 3mm is cheaper by the kilo, and 1.75mm offers no print quality benefit anyway? The lite may prove a good suggestion when helping people build a first printer, but I won’t use it myself. Just bought a new j-head last week anyway.
