Finally replaced the stock hotend on my MP Select Mini with an E3D v6 hotend. Wound up doing a bit of soldering for the thermistor and heater cartridge, and reused the stock fan. Currently printing a lucky cat using some spare clear tangerine PLA to test it out!
i dont think soldering the termistor is a good idea - the temperature around the heater is larger than the solder melting temperature. you are supposed to use the metal tubes provided with e3d.
@Cristian_Nicola I didn’t solder directly to the thermistor. It came with two short leads terminated in a quick disconnect connector, and the kit included cables with the matching connector type. I soldered these cables to the existing wiring. No solder was used anywhere near the hotend.
They still include ferrules to crimp connect (avoids soldering), but they’re a pain to use with stranded copper wire. And the style of thermistor they’re using currently doesn’t have traditional leads, so the ferrules seem kind of pointless now.
