@Jason_Gullickson , we normally remove gun-related links here, but to be quite honest, this is completely worth linking. Now, when people start spamming the hell out of this every day for the next 2 weeks, those are likely to get removed.
I might find this interesting if:
It was made with a DIY printer
It was made with a sub-$500 printer
It was printed in record time (less than one serialized hour)
It used some radical new technique that could be adopted to Reprap
It was a superior process (printed assembled perhaps?)
It wasn’t a 100+ year old obsolete design (or an original design?)
It was an improvement on the design (non-target rejection, etc.)
It addressed any real need
It was self-replicating
It wasn’t an obvious attempt to cash-in on the hype generated by the ignorant surrounding the most useless application of 3D printing by doing something they could have done years ago
…maybe then it would be interesting
@Ed_Catlett Technology for doing good things it´s OK. Technology to kill people is wrong.
@Gerardo_Paz so all technology is bad.
Anything built for good can also be used for bad.
So your point is what exactly, that dont build a machine to reproduce parts incase somebody uses it to kill.
Seems you better get off the internet as people use it to encourage others to kill.
@Nigel_Dickinson I´m talking about the human behavior. Again “Technology for doing good things it´s OK. Technology to kill people is wrong.” It´s your desition. What would you do? Use it to do good things or use it to build weapons?
@Gerardo_Paz you cannot say “technology for” at that point. There’s not “technology for doing good” just as much as there isn’t “technology for doing bad”…it’s just technology.
Yes, of course. A nuclear bomb kills thousand of people in a second but it´s “just technology”… You know what?.. Your excuses shows me you know what´s wrong and what´s rigth. It´s a matter of awareness. At the end, you will feel what you´ve caused. For real…
@Gerardo_Paz well, that escalated quickly.
You cannot see the difference between building a nuclear bomb and building a tool that can be used to fabricate a gun?
I suggest you see a mental health specialist.
@Gerardo_Paz I suggest that you go and look at your comments and tell me how logical your belief is.
If you belief what you said is correct go live in the wilds with nothing and eat roots you harvest by hand.
I saied it before and do it again: Ok so lets work on the next logical steps as hard as we can. 1. 3D print ammo. And come on . How stupid the the useless idea to google “how to make gunpowder”? 2. 3D printed claymore and landmine housings. Hey no problem. You still need to get the explosives. And who would come up with the rediculous idea to google “how to make explosives”…stupid idea. 3. Let’s get a little more ambitouse. Ok the nuke idea? Way to much. But what about the detonators? I think everyone should have the chance to own one. I’m sure authorities, press and the public will be absolutley thrilled to see this (of course) purley technical possibility. (There may be sarcasm involved in this post. Sry…not)
American is in part a sick society (not all, of course but a great part). You are sick of violence. Between you, between others. So you don´t see any problem in building guns in your garage. Maybe you people -who justify this attitude - have to see a mental health specialist…
And as I said before: The Military / Industrial Complex is washing your brains making you feel the need of astronomical spendings in those crap… Wake up…
@Gerardo_Paz stop using the internet it was designed for the military by a British guy so your anti American with no thought on your point of view.
Your the violent one who cannot see more good than bad in inventions.
So you wake up smell the roses not the bs of a blinkered attitude.
and your attitude hides the fact that your country is bullying a free state in the Falklands and your nationalisation of private firms antagonising country’s or destroying the rights of the native tribes, so you really should shut up.
I was only impressed that they could print a machine as specialized as a gun. Not easy. They most likely would’ve failed if they tried a watch or a clock.
@Nigel_Dickinson Hi pirat!. So you show up… =) I use internet for good things. For instance trying to make people like you to have a better point of view. Before talk about Malvinas you should learn a lot of History. And the “firm stuff” is not like the Sundays Times told you… YPF (like many others firms in Argentina still iin private hands) was a National firm. Some activities were given by contract to private firms. Of course, those private firms should invest (that was the reason for that action) for instance - in the case of YPF, the Argentine estate had interest in exploration - which finnaly, after 10 years, the private firm didn´t do at all. So the contract fail itself due to that inaction… I know in the part of the world you live, information is totally biased. But still there are clever people who see the reality. Everyone see what they want to see…
Finnaly, let me tell you that besides it wasn´t the YPF case - in every case, the common interest of a society is over the private particular interest, always. Firms are respectable when they also respect what they sign. Or do you think that only because you are a firm, you could give some politicians a lot of money and continue doing what you want? Is that ok for you?
You fail then as Spain and France can claim the Falklands over you.
You break international agreements for your own gains. Read the words of others not your junta regime in all but name.
You cannot claim something is bad then still use it.
You prove the fact that your country is blinded by press restrictions and education being bias.
And your own views prove this I have a choice and am a free man unlike you.
Press is biased in the world is biased but not to the point of your country altering the history books. Hence the fact the the natives do not have claim to their own lands.
You started this political garbage and now you prove your whole posting on this page to be blinkered and biased and lies.
Indoctrination does this to people.
@Nigel_Dickinson Interesting you recognized Malvinas belonged before to France and Spain… Really, don´t have more time to waste in you… Good luck… And remember, in our last day, everyone will feel what we´ve done…
strange days indeed, hands across the water freind
