First attempt at printing in multicolor.
Left is putting short pieces of PLA into the tube before starting the print and the other two are changing “on the fly”.
Also tried splicing PLA together with a lighter but did not really succeed with that. The welds got to thick for the tube.

A friend of mine ‘welds’ his different colours of filament together with a soldering.

No, but I could tell him to do one 
I meant to say soldering iron in the first comment. I think he just melts the ends of two pieces of filament and he just presses them together before it cools. It does affect the diameter of the filament, so care should be taken. He has had his fair share of snags, because of the diameter difference in some cases.
OK. That is exactly what I did with a lighter yesterday. It was rather hard to get the diameter right.
