First Impressions of the Monoprice maker select

Its a BEAST. All metal frame, pretty nice parts. Leveled the bed by hand. The aluminum sheet isn’t perfectly level, bowing slightly in the center. This is to be expected unless it was a cast sheet that was then lapped smooth. I strove for ‘good enough’ where the nozzle dragged though the gap might very slightly. I now see this is what “rafts” are for.

After figuring out how to load the extruder, I got the sample filament in, selected a sample file, and I am printing. The layers are flat so far and PLA is odorless. I already have some green and black filament, and soon my son will have some tractors.

Overall, two thumbs up. I can see this as a solid foundation for modding.

Also, would PEI film work for PLA/etc too? I would rather get something more permanent than the tape sheet they give you. If I do use PEI, what adhesive are people using?

No adhesive needed for PEI and PLA. Just print at 50-60C

I just received my Maker Select today. I was able to assemble the unit, level the bed, and do a test print off the SD card. The sample yellow PLA filament worked excellent and was odorless.

I hope to be printing my own designs real soon.

I meant adhesive to stick PEI to the heated print bed.

Look up 3M 468MP double sided tape. It’s a high temp acrylic based adhesive.
