first milling with a new 12,7mm ballhead in soft MDF. Fluting and bevelling is a lot of fun with it. The result is repeatable good, the corners are sharp and with a nice concave.
The machine is a 1m x 1m aluframe-construction with ballscrews and leadshine amps.
This looks awesome! What kind of material is that?
@Pascoe_Bowen It’s MDF. Called “Mitteldichte Faserplatte” - a cheap, woodlike material. It’s a common material in germany. Wooddust-waste recycled, baked and pressed to plates. Good for milling, but it’s not for outdoor usage.
Cool can you print with it?
@Pascoe_Bowen no - you need a industrial 40t press to press it in form. You can’t print MDF. They bake a 1 meter high cake out of the wooddust and some additives, finally they press the cake to a 1-3 cm strong plate. It’s like wood - but cheaper…
